ove classical music or just an avid fan of the cello? Multi-award winning cellist Nicolas Altstaedt performs Haydn’s dazzling first concerto, composed for the Eszterházy, which lies in what is now Hungary. The same country provides folk music inspiration for Transylvanian Dances by native Sándor Veress. Since it was chosen as the backdrop to Colin Firth’s dramatic address in The King’s Speech, Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony has become one of his most recognised and popular pieces, in particular the expressive, slow second movement. The Scottish Chamber Orchestra always provide a thrilling evening of classical music and this promises to be no exception.
